That hiatus I took was even shorter than I imagined it would be. The days went by too fast. I have not accomplished all that I dreamed I would at this point. Oh, well. It's summer and I'm lazy. At least my desk is more or less clean! That is if you discount all the various art supplies strewn atop it.
I got back from my friend Regina's birthday party/sleepover an hour or so ago. We had watched Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Hercules and The Emperor's New Groove (while snacking on delicious, homemade rice krispy treats of course) as part of pseudo-movie marathon last night. We played a pretty fun game of Apples to Apples, too. I was not tired at all, and thus stayed up until about 5 am, talking and laughing with three other girls who had the same problem going to bed. It was great. The waffles, bacon and orange juice for breakfast were heavenly.
I made this Mockingjay pin for Regina because she loves that The Hunger Games books and I wasn't sure what else to get her besides dollar bills that I creatively packaged and then hid about her room. She loved both.
Now I want to make a pin for myself, or for other people, like Scarlett, who has recently fallen in love with the trilogy. Anyone else interested?
I will catch up with everyone's blog posts soon. I missed everyone, even though I was only gone for, what, five days?
P.S. I'm watching season one of Heroes on DVD. So, so good. Apparently season two is crap, though. Is that true?

Dead hearts are everywhere.
I'm having a hard time reading The Red Badge of Courage. My mind loves to wander. I've been playing My Spanish Coach (don't ask) for inordinate amounts of time instead. Oh, right. I finished Fahrenheit 451 a week or so ago. Ray Bradbury is a genius.
I can't get my passport any time in the next month because I'd need my dad's signature and he's in Maryland. I'm thinking of taking up the glockenspiel again. I've been playing tennis for at least an hour every night when I'm not making money babysitting. Thank you for apologizing, you-know-who-you-are, and by the way, we should hang out sometime. I want to see Toy Story 3 and Shutter Island. Now imagine if they combined those two movies. Toy Island 3? Shutter Story? Online clothes shopping is turning into a hobby of mine. This is not good for my bank account. I need to save, save, save for Scotland.
I can't believe I start school in less than a month. As if it's any consolation, we go back on a cool date. 8/9/10. That first day, when I have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning, is going to be brutal. Staying up late and sleeping in has become my lifestyle, unhealthy though it may be.
I want an extension of summer.

Harry Potter, the beach and a sleepover all wrapped into one.
I was invited to Puja's sweet 16 beach/sleepover party this past Monday through Tuesday. I wasn't sure what to buy her as a gift and she said she wanted nothing. Thus, I decided to make her something I figured she'd love. The result was a Harry Potter themed box with a dozen Reese's inside: a combination of two things she enjoys dearly.
That's right. She got a car! She was shocked and elated. I'm happy for her and have no reason to be one bit jealous considering I haven't even bothered to acquire my permit yet. Yeah, I should do that soon or I'll be riding the bus forever. Bah, that might happen regardless. Gas money is quite expensive.
Then the aunts, uncles, cousins and other assorted relatives left and the sleepover truly began. We talked, but not in a gossip-y way that is always portrayed in the movies. No, our conversations were humorous and intelligent. We played card games, I laughed so hard at my own stupidity I started crying, we watched Taken and then got much-needed sleep.
It was an awesome party. I love my friends.
I apologize for the long post yet -- for once -- stuff has been going down.
Oh, which reminds me! Someone please explain to me why the two days I actually have something planned, multiple other friends can and want to make plans then and there? I mean, how does that work?
On Monday, me, Puja, Regina, Patricia and Puja's extended family went to the beach for a couple of hours.
We tried to make a model of "New York" and this was the result. We couldn't even make a skyscraper. Fail.
Then after we got sufficiently sun-burned, back to Puja's house we went where we met up with Aniesa. Chaos ensued. What seemed like hundreds but more like tens of Puja's relatives came over to join in the celebration. We ate chimichangas, spicy Indian food, and cake. We also played Mafia, and watched Puja open her many presents. Including this one.We tried to make a model of "New York" and this was the result. We couldn't even make a skyscraper. Fail.

Beware, I rant today.
I've been sleeping at odd hours and I don't really mind. The only consequence is I have an even harder time distinguishing the days.
I went and saw the midnight showing of The Last Airbender with my best friend last night, er, this morning. Let me put my honest opinion out there of it. The movie is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. Sitting there for the first few minutes, I thought, "oh, maybe this won't be as bad as I thought." Then Katara talked and immediately it went downhill. They can't even pronounce the most important name, Aang, right! It takes itself too seriously. There's horrendous acting. The characters aren't really characters, they just pick random times to talk about the story or back story awkwardly. The battle scenes are probably the only marginally cool thing and its only redeeming quality, but by that part of the movie you're ticked you've had to wait an hour in pure agony for anything good. My brother was just about ready to walk out of the theater.
If you loved the cartoon, you're going to be sorely disappointed. But even if you've never seen the Nickelodeon version, I think you are going to dislike the movie. The trailer I saw for a movie with talking owls looks better for goodness sakes!

So I spent $13 to see it at midnight in 3D and there was NOTHING IN 3D! How dare they! It's really not even worth the matinee price for the non-3D version. Instead, invest in the show's DVDs.
I'm off to babysit.
